Richard utilizes his leadership and global experience across industries in complex work settings to partner with Members to envision and implement cultural change that optimizes human and organizational performance, fosters operational excellence and an incident free environment. Previously, Richard worked for General Electric for 30 years in multiple functions including Legal Counsel, Human Resources, Sourcing, several global HSE roles, leading to his appointment as GE Energy’s Senior Executive for Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability. He received his Bachelor of Science from Purdue University, Juris Doctor from Union (Albany) Law School, and Master of Business Administration from Columbia University.   

John Belcher

Vice President Safety and Member Performance

Region: Gulf Coast – Focus on Texas

Based in Houston, John is a Senior Safety Manager working throughout the country to collaborate with our Membership in efforts to improve safety and operational leadership.

His service and support are strengthened by 18 years of experience in maritime occupational safety and health.

John holds a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Administration from Texas A&M University at Galveston.

Andy Booth

AVP Safety & Member Performance

Region: Virginia, Mid-Atlantic

Andrew “Andy” Booth is the Signal Safety Team Member for the mid-Atlantic region and is based in Norfolk, VA., working with Operations and Safety leaders to develop stronger cultures within the member organizations by operationalizing safety.

As a previous Signal member himself, Andy comes from the Port of Virginia’s Health and Safety Department as the Manager for Operational Standardization and Hazard Mitigation, an operations background in terminal services and stevedoring, as well as a background of sailing as a licensed deck officer for over a decade.

Andy will service the needs of the local members that are in the Hampton Roads area, as well as partner with his fellow Signal Team Members throughout the country to offer the services and resources available through Signal.

Clayton Coleman

Region: Long Beach, & Northern California, Hawaii, Guam

Clayton is based out of Long Beach

About Clayton

Clayton Coleman is based out of Long Beach, and his focus at Signal Mutual will be on creating a foundation of leadership and enhancing the safety experience for the members across the LA, Long Beach, Oakland, San Francisco, Hawaii, and Guam Regions.  He joined Signal Mutual after a 17-year career at Ports America, where he held key leadership roles in Operations, IT, and Safety.  With a strong background in optimizing operational efficiency and implementing technological solutions, Clayton brings a wealth of industry experience.  His diverse skill set and strategic approach make him a valuable asset in driving organizational improvements and fostering a culture of safety and innovation. 

Adrien Cordero

Senior Safety Manager

Region: Gulf Coast focusing on Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Great Lakes, Mississippi, and Ohio River areas

Adrien entered the Occupational Safety and Health field after serving seven years as a professional firefighter for the City of Mobile, AL.  Holding a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Health and a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation, he has progressed steadily, having such titles as Safety Coordinator, Safety Lead, Safety Manager, Safety Consultant, and Director of Safety and Compliance. Approximately half of Adrien's career has been spent navigating the maritime industry while also holding significant experience in industrial construction, industrial manufacturing, Department of Defense contracting, commercial construction, case management, conservative treatment, and workers compensation. Adrien has built a reputation for his ability to establish strategic and mutually beneficial relationships with all customers, whether public, private, or internal.

Kristina DeFilippo

Senior Safety Manager

Region:  Southeast - South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina

Kristina DeFilippo works directly with Member leaders and safety teams to engage in higher levels of commitment and participation in safety at the workplace. As a previous Signal Member, Kristina held several positions at SEACOR Island Lines in the safety department, most recently as the Director of HSSQE.  She also served as the marine terminal subcommittee chair for Signal's safety committee. Before joining SEACOR Island Lines, Kristina worked as a safety consultant in the general industry and construction sectors throughout the Northeast.  Kristina holds a BS in Occupational Safety and Health from the University of Connecticut.

Justin Faucette

Senior Safety Manager

Region: Southeast - South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Delaware, Maryland.

Based in Charleston, SC, Justin has been providing safety and loss control services to Signal Mutual Members since June 2020. 

Justin manages members in in DE, GA, MD, NC, and SC. 

He brings over 15 years of trade, safety, health, and environmental experience in the maritime, construction, and general industries and he is an active member of SSPC and NFPA.

Chad Ferris

Senior Safety Manager

Region: Gulf Coast – Focus on Texas

Chad W. Ferris joins Signal Mutual as a safety professional with over fourteen years of expertise in petrochemical manufacturing. He graduated from Kirkwood Community College with an Associate Certificate in Entry Level Fire Fighting and an Associate of Science in Fire Science Management in 2008 and continued his education at Oklahoma State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology in 2010.

During his time at Oklahoma State University, Chad interned with the marketing and editorial department at Fire Protection Publications, as well as in the College of Agriculture. There, he played a key role in developing an outreach training program focused on grain engulfment prevention and technical rescue.

In his professional career, Chad has managed diverse safety programs and projects, including Contractor Safety, Industrial Safety, Process Safety Management, Emergency Response, OSHA Voluntary Protection Program, Fire Extinguishing and Suppression Systems, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Safety, and Human and Organizational Performance. He thrives in collaborative environments, working with strong and diverse teams to implement solutions that create sustainable health and safety programs aimed at reducing risk, liability, and cost.

In recognition of his expertise and commitment to safety, Chad holds multiple certifications, including Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

Steve Kennedy

Safety Manager

Region: Florida

Based in Jacksonville Florida, Steve provides safety and loss control services to our Membership in the Southeast Region.

Steve has over 15 years of experience in the Ship Repair industry.

Steve served in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 21 years of service. He earned his Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University and his Bachelor’s Degree in Adult Education and Development from Southern Illinois University. Steve has also completed his Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.

Region: Pacific Northwest

 

Terry Swinson

Safety Manager

Terry, located in Dallas, Texas, is a Senior Safety Manager and Project Manager for the Signal Safety Resources Team. She is the lead Safety Manager for the Safety portion of Signal's State Act and SafeShore programs.

Terry also assists the Team with special projects and manages all safety events, meeting planning, and logistics. In addition, she works closely with the Signal Mutual Safety Committee and directly aids all Signal Members by responding to unique requests for information and fielding Safety Resources-related queries.

Terry joined Signal in 2012 and is a Certified Account Manager, Certified Meeting Professional, and COVID-19 Compliance Officer; and holds the Texas General Property & Causality Insurance License and Texas Surplus Lines Insurance License.

William Thibodeau

Senior Safety Manager

Region: San Diego, California, Hawaii

Bill is based out of San Diego. 

With more than two decades of hands-on experience in the field of Occupational Health and Safety, most of which has been focused on ship repair, modernization, and building.  This experience has been gained at both large and small sites, in multiple states and waterfronts, all with the same organization, which is a Signal Mutual member.

Experience with all levels of the industry include, but not limited to, confined and enclosed spaces, shipyard competent person, first responder, fire prevention, seasoned incident and accident investigator, developing and administering a variety of training programs, developing and maintaining management systems including OSHA VPP STAR, OSHAS 18001, ISO 1400, and assisted other companies with the development of their programs.
