Richard utilizes his leadership and global experience across industries in complex work settings to partner with Members to envision and implement cultural change that optimizes human and organizational performance, fosters operational excellence and an incident free environment.Previously, Richard worked for General Electric for 30 years in multiple functions including Legal Counsel, Human Resources, Sourcing, several global HSE roles, leading to his appointment as GE Energy’s Senior Executive for Health, Safety, Environment& Sustainability. He received his Bachelor of Science from Purdue University, Juris Doctor from Union (Albany) Law School, and Master of Business Administration from Columbia University.
Senior Safety Manager
Based in Houston, John is a Senior Safety Manager working throughout the country to collaborate with our Membership in efforts to improve safety and operational leadership.
His service and support are strengthened by 18 years of experience in maritime occupational safety and health.
John holds a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Administration from Texas A&M University at Galveston.
Andrew “Andy” Booth is the Signal Safety Team Member for the mid-Atlantic region and is based in Norfolk, VA., working with Operations and Safety leaders to develop stronger cultures within the member organizations by operationalizing safety.
As a previous Signal member himself, Andy comes from the Port of Virginia’s Health and Safety Department as the Manager for Operational Standardization and Hazard Mitigation, an operations background in terminal services and stevedoring, as well as a background of sailing as a licensed deck officer for over a decade.
Andy will service the needs of the local members that are in the Hampton Roads area, as well as partner with his fellow Signal Team Members throughout the country to offer the services and resources available through Signal.
Based in Wilton CT, Donna is responsible for providing safety services to the members in her territory and beyond to enhance performance.
Donna brings more than 20 years of experience managing Environmental, Health and Safety programs at dynamic, leading companies in diverse sectors including: high-tech. manufacturing, research & development, utilities, and healthcare.
She gained her experience at Memorial Sloan Kettering, ASML, Consolidated Edison, General Electric and Bayer. Donna earned a M.S. in Environmental Health Science from the New York Medical College and a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Earth Science from the University of Hartford.
She has lived in Connecticut throughout her life and currently lives in the Southwestern part of the state with her husband and son.
John who is based in New Orleans Louisiana provides safety and loss control services to Signal Mutual Members in the Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Great Lakes, Mississippi and Ohio River areas.
John is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and has over 18 years of Occupational, Health, Safety and Environmental experience in Petrochemical, Construction, Healthcare, and Maritime industries.
Based in Charleston, SC, Justin has been providing safety and loss control services to Signal Mutual Members since June 2020.
Justin manages members in in DE, GA, MD, NC, and SC.
He brings over 15 years of trade, safety, health, and environmental experience in the maritime, construction, and general industries and he is an active member of SSPC and NFPA.
Senior Safety Manager
Based in the Seattle area, Doug’s regional responsibilities encompass providing workplace safety guidance, to Member executives, supervisors and deckplate leaders. He supports Members using the broad capabilities of the Signal Safety Department, providing resources, training, and being the first-call resource to his Members.
He offers safety management support, audits, and maritime safety knowledge to Members in Terminal Operations, Ship Repair and Vessel Construction, and Marine Construction throughout the Pacific Northwest including Washington, Oregon, and Alaska. Doug travels nationally delivering leadership training and support to Members in ports around the U.S.
Doug has over 30 years of safety experience including, 20 within the maritime industry. He is a registered Professional Engineer (WA), and a BCSP Certified Safety Professional.
Assistant Vice President, Safety
Based in Long Beach, California, Sam is responsible for Safety and Loss Control for our member services.
Sam brings over 25 years of Safety and Loss Control experience in General Industry, Construction, Agriculture and Maritime. He has had multiple roles in Fortune 100 companies from site level to corporate responsibilities.
Sam covers California and US Territory in the South Pacific to include Terminal Services, Ship Repair and New Construction, Marine Construction and Oil & Gas operations.
Senior Safety Manager
Based in Nashville TN, Court is designated as the safety manager for all of our SafeShore and State Act programs within the mutual territory, ensuring they have a resource to assist them with their Safety Management System (SMS).
As a graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and having worked in the environmental remediation, electrical utility, maritime and construction industries, Court brings over 25 years of occupational health, safety, environmental, emergency management and trades experience. Court has a Master’s in emergency management and an undergrad in Marine Safety and Environmental Protection and has achieved the designations of Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), and ISO 45001 Lead Auditor.
Senior Safety Manager
Sonia’s role at Signal is to provide safety management consultative services, serve as coach/mentor for safety and operations leaders on improving organizational safety culture, designs and delivers training, and creates safety management and compliance resources/tools. Additionally, for underwriting purposes and/or member requests, she conducts comprehensive risk control surveys or audits, including OHS compliance with recommendations for prospective and existing members.
Sonia is a Senior Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and Risk Control professional with 20+ years’ experience in several countries and industries, with the last seven years in the Insurance sector. She has a degree in Industrial Engineering, is bilingual (Spanish), holds an Associate Safety Professionals (ASP) certification from the BCSP, and an Executive Program in Safety Management Certificate from ASSP. Sonia is also a Certified Lead Auditor of ISO 45001:2018 OHSMS, and is an OSHA authorized outreach trainer for general, maritime, and construction industries.
Versatile and passionate about leading continuous improvement of OH&S Management Systems, influencing and empowering business leaders, using data analytics and technology applications in the OH&S and sustainability.
She primarily supports members of the South Eastern Region of the US (FL, GA, SC, NC, PR, and VI) and other Regions as needed and participated in National Safety Committees. She is based out of Miami, FL.
Safety Resources Project Coordinator
Terry, who is located Addison Texas is the Project Coordinator for Signal Safety and the administrative point person for the Safety Resources Team. She assists the Team with special projects, manages all safety events, meeting planning and logistics. She works closely with the Signal Mutual Safety Committee, directly aids all Signal Members by responding to unique requests for information and fielding Safety Resources related queries.
Terry joined Signal in 2012 and is a Certified Account Manager, Certified Meeting Professional, COVID-19 Compliance Officer, and holds both the Texas General Property & Causality Insurance License and Texas Surplus Lines Insurance License.
