The Signal Mutual Indemnity Association (SMIA) Safety Committee Meetings is a two-day event held three times a year across the continental US. These meetings are an excellent opportunity to network with the Committee and Signal Members! Both days of the Membership Meeting and the Committee Meetings are open to the entire Membership.

Meeting information: 

Day 1: Membership Meeting is a full day with presentations, speakers, updates on the Committee's items for the association, and more!

Day 2: Committee Meetings are working meetings in which you are encouraged to give input and ideas on projects the Subcommittees are working on. There are four (4) Subcommittees in which you will be able to attend the appropriate subcommittee(s):

  • Marine Terminal
  • M-CODED: Marine Construction-Offshore-Diving-Energy-Dredging
  • Shipyard
  • Terminal Automation

Helpful information on Registration: 

Registration Type: 

  • Safety Committee Member: This registration type is for those Signal Members who formally make up the Committee. 
  • Signal Member:  This registration type is for those who are in the Mutual that are not officially on the Safety Committee 
  • SafeShore: This registration type is for those who are in the SafeShore program. 
  • Guest: This registration type is for anyone who is traveling with those who are attending the meeting but will only be attending social events. 

Please note that if you have multiple meeting attendees, they will have to be registered separately. Any guests that are traveling with you can be registered under your registration. 

Which meeting are you attending? You can choose the Safety Committee, Maritime Conference, or Both.  

Book A Room: For those who are traveling in and need a guest room. The group rate is $209 per night plus taxes and fees.
