New Solutions at Work: Fall Protection & Ergodyne Squids® Power Tool Trap

What is it? Solutions-at-Work or “SAW” are individual ideas where a Member of the Mutual looked at an existing hazard and, through their employee’s years of experience, knowledge, or creativity, developed a Solution to the problem that eliminated or reduced the hazard to employees and the chance of injury.

Please see below for information on these new Solutions at Work:

Ergodyne Squids® Power Tool Trap™ Tool Tether System

Dropped objects present a risk of significant injury or fatality (SIF) during simultaneous operations where personnel perform work at heights. Barricades and tool tethers provide dual layers of safety mitigation to reduce risk to personnel.

Passive Guardrails for Fall Protection (Non-Anchored Guardrail Systems)

Workers in shipyards and marine construction are routinely exposed to serious fall hazards. Installing guardrails is an effective means of protecting workers from open deck hatches, tank access openings, and trenches, and unprotected edges throughout the duration of the job.

Suspension Trauma Straps for Fall Arrest

Workers at height in industrial and maritime environments rely on full-body fall arrest harnesses as a critical last line of defense. However, a fall event does not end the hazard – a worker suspended in a harness while awaiting rescue faces a serious and time-sensitive medical risk known as orthostatic intolerance.

Tanker Truck Fall Protection System

The Standfast TRAM system provides a user-friendly, fixed fall protection approach that is quick to install, cost-effective, and well received by the workforce, helping reduce fall exposure by replacing less consistent, temporary methods.
